Clinics and Services

Nurse Clinics

The practice team consists of five nurses and two health care assistants who offer a wide range of services including smears, travel immunisations, child immunisations, blood pressure checks, dressings, contraception, advice on general health matters and minor illness.

There are nurse-run clinics caring for patients with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and strokes. The health care assistants are available for new patient health checks, dressings, weight management, exercise on prescription and 24-hour blood pressure checks.

Antenatal

Antenatal appointments are with the midwife.

Asthma Clinic

This is run by a practice nurse in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only.

Child Health Surveillance

Child health surveillance is offered to babies at 8 weeks with a doctor and then a nurse for the first immunisations.

Diabetic Management

This clinic is held currently on a weekly basis and is run by practice nurses and health care assistants.

Family Planning

We have family planning clinics which are run by our practice nurses. In the clinics they will do smears and give contraceptive and general female health advice. Please contact the surgery for an appointment.

Minor Surgery

Doctors carry out minor surgical procedures by appointment for practice patients and they will be happy to advise you on this.

Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations and Advice

Please make an appointment at least six weeks prior to your holiday to ensure adequate immunisation cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception.

Flu Vaccination

An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes.

Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.
