Supply Disruption of blood collection tubes

We have been notified by NHS England and Derby Royal Hospital who hold the contract for blood taking services, that there is a significant reduction in availability of the blood collection bottles and therefore they are required to cancel ALL blood clinic appointments from Tuesday 31st August until Friday 17th September 2021.

If your blood test has been requested by any hospital department and it is felt that you blood test is urgent please contact them directly as they will have the availability to arrange this appointment for you.

If you have a pending cancellation and this has been authorised through Village Surgery and you are under the impression that the clinician deemed this an urgent matter, please contact the surgery and explain this to a receptionist who will forward your request to a clinician to review.

Please be aware we do not do not provide a blood taking service at Village Surgery, and any spare bottles that we have have been requested by the hospital for urgent cases.

The staff and partners are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, however, we hope you will appreciate this matter is out of our hands and a national issue.

Thank you
