Flu Campaign 2020/21 – FAQ’s

  1. Why do patients have to wait till October / November for vaccination to be administered?

Village Surgery requested the vaccinations in March 2020 and unfortunately due to the worldwide pandemic delivery of the vaccinations to site have been delayed slightly, this is a national issue and we are receiving the vaccinations at the earliest opportunity.

2. Patients unable to attend on these specific arranged dates.

Please be advised that if we have any availability and vaccinations after the clinics are completed we will be scheduling pts in to additional dates. This is dependent on availability of vaccinations.

3. Why have some patients been deemed as priority patients?

The government has given NHS providers specific instructions that priority should be on the following patient groups, therefore we have followed this instructions as per the government and NHS England advice.

  • Shielding patients
  • Housebound patients
  • Patients in care homes.

4. Vaccinating over 50’s and shielding patients household members

The government released this information  after orders for vaccinations were placed in March 2020 and General Practice were advised to order additional vaccination to cover this request, however, when this was requested availability for vaccinations and additional ordering was unavailable therefore we have been unable to request any additional vaccinations.

Please be aware this is a national matter and not surgery specific.

The government have now advised that this patient group may receive vaccinations, if they become available and after the current Flu campaign is completed.

IF YOU ARE ASKED TO ATTEND VILLAGE SURGERY PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ARE WEARING A FACE MASK.
